The session shared what Cherished Pets is doing to provide accessible and crisis vet and petcare to vulnerable groups in the community, identify the need in Canberra, connect existing parties in Canberra working in this space and look at possible ways forward.

Past Events and Initiatives
PAPA hosted an with Tara Cheyne MLA on 14th November 2018 at the ACT Legislative Assembly: Pet Friendly Rentals getting a better deal for pet owners and their pets. The follow-up letter to Attorney-General Gordon Ramsay MLA from Jan Phillips is available here. And his response to our letter.
In April 2017 PAPA held a session hosted by Mary Porter AM 'And my dog comes too...new approaches to living with our pets'.
As part of our work in the community, increasing access to pets in public spaces, particularly public transport, former president Svetlana Manns wrote to Megan Fitzharris MLA in 2019. Former president Jan Phillips also communicated with the transport minister in 2017. Her response in regards to the Flexible Bus Service is available here.
In 2015 PAPA hosted a session presented by Dr. David Foote 'Supporting older pet owners through pet bereavement' at the Legislative Assembly.
In 2014 as part of the Pets and Aged Care Steering Group an information session was hosted at the Hughes Community Centre 'Keeping older people and their pets together: supporting older pet owners at home'.
In 2013 former president Jan Phillips gave an interview in Small Animal Talk about the former PAWS charity she started and about pets in the public space.
The Pets and Aged Care Steering Group also hosted a workshop in 2012 'More Like Home: Designing pet-friendly aged accommodation', following on from 'A Conversation on Pets and Aged Care: finding better solutions for people and animals'.
